It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert ‘Rob’ Lewis on November 22, 2025, at the age of 69. Rob was born on April 2, 1956 in Thunder Bay, Ontario to Haig and Betty (nee Barr) Lewis. Rob spent a majority of his adult life dedicating himself to teaching. He had a thirst for knowledge and expanding the future of students. One of his proudest achievements was being able to help his students reach their full potential. Frieda Minchau 1926 - 2025 With sad hearts we announce the passing of Frieda (Alfreda Zelent) Minchau on July 1, 2025 at the age of 98 years, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Frieda was born in Karolinka, Poland, on September 12, 1926, to her parents Emil and Alma Zelent. With her mother and younger sister at her side, she immigrated to Canada in February 1932 to join her father who ventured ahead two years earlier. She married Edward Minchau on June 17, 1947. They spent most of their farming years in the Wetaskiwin community, while raising a family of four children, and being blessed with six grandchildren and six great-grandsons. Garry is survived by his loving wife​, Lorrilyn​; his children​, Jaret (Angie), Aaron (Wendy), Kendra (Sheldon), Melisa (Gerald), ​and Kent​. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn (Eric) Heilman; grandchildren, Raeleen (Brent) Metzker and Trent (Nicole) Heilman; great-granddaughters, Peyton, Kali, Shaylan and Taylor as well as her sisters, Lily (Howard) Smith, Margaret Forth and Eleanor Pydde. Hilda was born in Ludwipol, Poland, now Ukraine, on August 3, 1924 to Emil and Amalja Kurtz. The family emigrated to Canada in 1927 where they settled in the Kavanagh area. On April 19, at the age of 88 years, she entered into rest after a courageous battle with cancer.
