Ruby Henriette Faille
April 1, 1937 – September 28, 2023
On September 28, 2023 at 11:30 p.m., Ruby succumbed to her long battle with cancer.
Ruby Faille was born to John and Pearl Berezon (predeceased) in Vegreville, Alberta, where she grew up and went to school. She had one brother, Bunny (Genie, predeceased) Berezon.
In 1956 she was married in Vegreville, where she had 4 children; Jerome Bohaychuk, JoAnne Bohaychuk, John Bohaychuk, and Janice Nowochin. The family moved to Thompson, Manitoba in 1966 where her last child, Jackie Miller, was born. In 1974 her family grew with the addition of the first grandchild, Jenn Bohaychuk.
Ruby met the love of her life, Rene Faille, and they were married on May 5, 1979. That July, they made the trek from Thompson to live in Swan Hills, Alberta.
Through the years, she celebrated the marriage of 3 children; John to Re (predeceased), Janice to Dale, and Jackie to Darcy.
Next to celebrate, was the birth of her other grandchildren; Joshua and Elias Nowochin, as well as the marriage of Joshua to Randi. She had 4 great-grandchildren; Nathan and Kali Batista, and Aria and Alyson Nowochin.
She worked most of her adult life and retired in 1990 from Esso Resources.
Ruby and Rene lived in several Alberta towns, where they were heavily involved with their faith communities. Their final move was to Wetaskiwin in 2013.
She had several health issues starting in 1998, with diabetes and kidney cancer. In 2004 her battle with breast cancer began, and after 16 years, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer which ravaged through her body over the past few years. In the end, it was metastatic breast cancer that allowed her spirit to return to God.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church (4218 56 Ave, Wetaskiwin)
