Frieda Minchau 1926 - 2025 With sad hearts we announce the passing of Frieda (Alfreda Zelent) Minchau on July 1, 2025 at the age of 98 years, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Frieda was born in Karolinka, Poland, on September 12, 1926, to her parents Emil and Alma Zelent. With her mother and younger sister at her side, she immigrated to Canada in February 1932 to join her father who ventured ahead two years earlier. She married Edward Minchau on June 17, 1947. They spent most of their farming years in the Wetaskiwin community, while raising a family of four children, and being blessed with six grandchildren and six great-grandsons. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerhardt Waldimar Forth at the age of 79 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Garry is survived by his loving wife​, Lorrilyn​; his children​, Jaret (Angie), Aaron (Wendy), Kendra (Sheldon), Melisa (Gerald), ​and Kent​. He was a loving Grandpa to eleven grandchildren: Colton, Braydon, Avery, Zander, Jaedyn, Taylor, Ashley, Todd, Jalisah, Zander and Lybi and to ​three great​-grandchildren;  brother to Daryl (Margot) and Arlen (Lynne) and will be remembered as well by his numerous other family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Roxann; children, Pat (Wade) Dimock, Arvid, Nancy (Richard) Payne, Karen (Danis) Lee, Julie (Arthur) Pittman; grandchildren, Daniel (Stacey), Steven (Amanda), Stewart, Darin, Sarah (Brodie), Lauren, Kendra, Hannah; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Lilli, Luke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. December 1st:  After service, we will have a volunteer appreciation potluck.  Please bring a  food item.  We will be thanking all our volunteers. Part of our Contemporary Worship Band Marlene Thompson, Larry Coroluik, and Bert Horvey will be providing music to sing.  There will be a free will offering that will go to general funds of the church..  We will also be an opportunity to make Christmas cards to our members over 90 years of age. December 15th:  We will have an Intergenerational Christmas program.  We are looking for people to come forward and share their talents in song, skit, story, instrumental etc.  The Preschool will provide the luncheon afterwards.  Hopefully, the travlelling GIFT choir (Grace Lutheran, Immanuel Anglican, First United Together)  will make an appearance. We are excited to be hosting Vacation Bible School again this summer! It will take place at Grace July 23, 24, 25 & 26 from 9:00 - 12:00. The theme this year is Camp Firelight. The focus verse is Psalm 56:3 - Whenever I’m Afraid, I put my trust in you.  Camp Firelight is the perfect location for every Camper’s favorite summer activities! Campers will join Lu (short for Lumen), the lightning bug puppet, and learn to face their fears while trusting in God. This program will teach ways we can put our trust in God whenever we are afraid, challenged, or called to do God’s work in the world and share the Good News of God’s love through Jesus Christ. Hildegard (Hilda) Karlo August 3, 1924 to May 19, 2024 (age 99) Hilda Karlo (nee Kurtz) passed away on May 19, 2024 and has been reunited with the love of her life, Ed Karlo. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn (Eric) Heilman; grandchildren, Raeleen (Brent) Metzker and Trent (Nicole) Heilman; great-granddaughters, Peyton, Kali, Shaylan and Taylor as well as her sisters, Lily (Howard) Smith, Margaret Forth and Eleanor Pydde. Hilda was born in Ludwipol, Poland, now Ukraine, on August 3, 1924 to Emil and Amalja Kurtz. The family emigrated to Canada in 1927 where they settled in the Kavanagh area. They purchased a quarter section of land West of Millet in the Porto Bello area and built a small, two room cabin which they moved into in 1930. She…

It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rene Thompson. On April 19, at the age of 88 years, she entered into rest after a courageous battle with cancer. Rene will be deeply missed by her daughters, Carolyn (Wayne) Wait, Shelley (Don) Bisset, Susan (Dale) Woitt, and Janet (Darren) Ware; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, as well as extended relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd (Bud) Thompson; daughter, Donna Dressler; five brothers, and one sister. On May 29, 1935, Rene was born in Holland to Maria and Huibert Prins.
